This is a quick shot of the new Type 1a Supernova (exploding star) that recently reached maximum brightness in the M101 Pinwheel Galaxy. I have pointed out the core of the galaxy and the supernova, which is below and to the left of the core in this photo. Observe how much brighter the supernova is than the core of the galaxy! Now, I'm one who believes that there must be other intelligent life somewhere out there in this incomprehensibly massive universe of ours. With that said, I can't even imagine how many civilizations might have been completely annihilated when this star blew its top!
